These essays here deal with whether

How are Christians saved from
sin? What do various terms of salvation theology,
such as "justification," "grace,"
"repentance," "sanctification,"
"faith," "law," etc., mean? How
do they interrelate to each other? This document
deals briefly with this subject:

Are
the dead alive? Do you have an immortal soul?
Are the unrepentant wicked eternally tortured
in hell? Or will those who ultimately reject Jesus have
their souls/spirits totally annihilated? This
book, which was scanned but not written by this site's

Does
the Bible teach blind faith? Does the
Gospel of John teach Christians that evidence isn't
relevant to belief? Furthermore, have you
ever had trouble remembering what the Gospel of
John teaches? Is there a "handle"
or general theme that makes this more ethereal Gospel more
understanble? Most surprisingly, the Gospel
of John has a running subtheme that maintains Jesus
did miracles to witness to others that the Father
had sent Him, to show that the Father gave
Him the words He spoke, and to witness to humanity
about His identity or who He was. Click on
the essay below if you want proof that the Bible
DOESN'T teach blind faith:

What is the correct form of church
government? Is congregationalism, under which
the laity vote in and out the minister, correct? Must
all authority come from the top-down, from an appointed
board of elders? Or may the ministers of
a church as a whole vote in other ministers to administer
the affairs of the church (a type of the Presbyterian
form of church government)? Is hierarchical church
government always evil and abusive? How does God
work through people to administer the church's business
and determine its teachings? The essays below deal

Will there be three general resurrections,
or just two? Some in the Church of God have
argued that only two resurrections will happen.
This brief essay makes the case for the traditional
Church of God teaching that there will be three
resurrections, including one just for those who
knew the truth during their first lifetime but
who never responded to their calling or who later
rejected it.

Is the Philadelphia Church of God
the only true church? Are Gerald Flurry's claims
to prophethood credible? This organization is
perhaps best known by the general public for being
sued by the Worldwide Church of God for copyright infringement
for republishing the works of Herbert W. Armstrong,
especially "Mystery of the Ages. It recently
bought the copyrights for a number of books and booklets
by this man from its legal adversary, the WCG. This
organization sponsors the Key of David television
program and publishes the Philadelphia Trumpet magazine.
These two brief essays deal with some of this
organization's claims:

Are we the Beast? That is,
are the English-speaking nations initially primarily
settled by people from the British Isles going to be
allied with the King of the North (i.e., the European
Union turned dictatorial) when attacking the King of

a Russian-led attack by Asiatic hordes? Or will
God punish this nation (i.e, the USA) and some
others in the British Commonwealth for their sins by
using the German-led European Union? These essays

What should we think of the ministry
of Herbert W. Armstrong and the old (pre-1986) Worldwide
Church of God? This organization, often called
a "cult" in those years, is known for
having sponsored "The World Tomorrow" on radio
and TV and for publishing "The Plain Truth"
magazine. It had the late Garner Ted
Armstrong (Herbert Armstrong's youngest son) as
its leading spokeman for many years before 1978. What
should we think of the critics of this organization
and of the Armstrongs? These documents deal with
the controversial history of the WCG, its critics,
and how those theologically influenced by this organization
should regard its legacy. Should its (often embarrassing) history
be ignored or discounted when dealing with new people
learning Herbert Armstrong's doctrines? Or should
credit be given where credit is due even when we like
to think we could have learned many of the same truths
from other churches or from the Bible on our own?

Should Christians stay in apostate churches?
Does God command us to remain? Or does
He command us to leave? Should Christians
have left the Worldwide Church of God after it became
apostate for abandoning all or most of the distinctive
teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong? Were we
called into a specific church organization, and
then can't leave it, regardless of the beliefs and
behavior of those leading it? Read this essay,
which draws upon the insights of Charles Pickering's
Biblical Separation: The Struggle for a
Pure Church.
